(I can testify to that my current Apple ID is not an e-mail address at all, and has worked just fine at the US iTunes Store, Apple Store, etc., for over a year now.) So, an Apple ID just needs to be a unique value w.r.t. Elsewhere (e.g., ), it's made clear that your Apple ID is logically distinct from an e-mail address, although if you wish they can be the same. For instance, the claims that 'Your Apple ID must be a valid email address, for example That is not true. Part of the problem is that Apple itself sometimes provides conflicting/incorrect info, re. How can I get it authorized to play ALL my music with the new email address (which works for a lot of the music - but not all)? This is very frustrating - I just got home from the apple store in Dallas, TX (Northpark) and on a scale of 1 - 10 they were a negative 5 for help ZERO HELP!!!! Please let me know, I want to buy an iPhone but I need this issue cleared up before I do, so I will not have an issue with that. I have gone to preferences and checked and the new email is there and so i authorized the computer with that one (for the 10th time) and it says that it was sucessful, BUT when I try to play that song OR sync the ipod again - I get the same pop up box asking for the computer to be authorized again.WITH THE OLD EMAIL ADDRESS.

The problem is that the email address in the pop up box is an OLD email, that really and truly is not connected with iTunes any longer - and I don't have access to that one any more.

When I try to sync my ipod (older mini) OR if I click on a song within itunes to play through the computer, a sign in box pops up saying that this computer is not authouized to play this song would you like to authourze it.
